Notes from testing
The Burrowing Owl is the first Rare most players reach, because its egg spawns in the Forest. It earns many times what any Forest Common does, so hatching one is a real jump in income for a new base.
Its base weight is very low, the same as a Chicken's. That matters more than it looks: weight is compared with the pet's own base, so even a small Burrowing Owl can count as heavy and earn well above its base income. Owls are one of the best pets to roll for weight early in the game.
The Owl's main rival is the Raccoon from the same biome, which earns a bit more per second. If you have room for only one Rare from the Forest, take whichever came out heavier or with a mutation, because those two factors outweigh the small gap in base income.
